Our First Sprinkler

This was Ava' first day in the sprinkler.  Can you tell she loved it and did not hesitate to dive right into the water.  She is my girl with no fear!  Blake also enjoys the water and he did not hesitate to get wet or helping "sissy" get wet.  The difference between the two is Blake was more selective on getting wet and Ava will plant her face right in the water for as long as she can stand it.  It was a fun morning with lots of sun and water.  I am looking forward to many more days with a sprinkler and maybe a pool outing too!

Sara's Training for a 5K!

Well, all of you know that I am not a "runner" type.  I have never enjoyed running nor have ever considered trying.  I'm more the dancer, cheerleader and aerobic type.
Last July,  I got this brainy idea to train to run in the Firecracker 5K in Waynesboro.  I figured I needed a year to train this poor, outshape "mommy" body.  Last summer I enlisted the help of my nieces, Lauren and Breanna, to babysit Blake and Ava while I ran on the treadmill downstairs (don't ask why the nonrunner would have a treadmill, maybe I secretedly wanted to be a runner).  It started out well, but then I thought I should also clean my house while I had extra hands and time.  My sweet Ava was not a great sleepeer, so I average 3 hours of sleep a day and it was hardly ever a straight 3 hours!  By September of 2010 I was not even attempting to run.  In November we celebrated my wonderful son Blake's birthday and I saw my picture and was not pleased.  I asked my "Santa" parents for and ipod for x-mas, which they happily provided for me along with an itunes gift card to get me started.  I hit the treadmill full speed in January and lost 15-20lbs!  You would have thought that would be enought to keep me going, but then February came and we had a lot of parties to plan.  My beautiful baby daughter, Ava, turned the big 1, the Super Bowl had to celebrated especially with my team in it, and we host the Feb. gathering on my husband's side of the family.  Not to mention my kids got sick for a week too.  I may have ran 2-4 times that month, not a good way to train.  March I got back on the treadmill and was successful, April was rough once again with parties and illness.  Now I am a mere 5 1/2 weeks away from the big day and I am sweeting bullets.
I am very proud today because I can run a mile under 12 minutes, which was a goal and 2 1/2 miles in just over 30min. which was a goal too.  My top goal would be to run the 5k in 35 minutes or to not have to hitch a ride on the firetrucks (the parade is directly after the run).  I will keep all posted on my training and the big day.  I know this will keep you on the end of your chairs:)

Not Just Another Rainy Day

It has been raining all week with small breaks in the sky to run outside.  Well when you have a 1 year old and a 2 1/2 year old it takes more than a few seconds to ready to go outside.  After dinner on Friday I told Blake and Ava that we would go outside as soon as we were finished eating and cleaned up the toys. Blake worked diligently on helping me clean up and get the house in order.  Ava, well let's just say that she kept herself occupied and didn't tear everything back out.  Which in my eyes equals success.  After putting the last kitchen item away I looked up, gave Blake a high five and the heavens opened up with a down pour of rain.  Knowing how much my kids love being outside, not to mentioned my house was in perfect order and I didn't want to think of anyone pulling it all back out, we went out on the front porch to watch the rain.  Then I had a grand idea to roll out the white paper, crayons, markers (only taken out on special occasions) and the watercolor paints with brushes (also only taken out on rare occasions).  They had a blast!  I don't believe any crayons were used for this artwork, but it certainly kept everyone entertained.  Ava spilled the water for the paint and that gave Blake the idea to get his feet, "paws" is what he referred to them as, wet and run up and down the porch making "paw tracks".  By the end Blake's feet were wet and Ava's were multicolored with paint.  It was a fun evening.

Phillie Pride

Here are my pride and joy wearing their Daddy's favorite shirts!  We are a Phillie family and enjoyed an exciting Phillie game today.  Okay, it wasn't the NBL, but a group of middle school athetes that did a good job playing the game.  We watched Shaun play and bring in the first two runs.  Way to go Shaun!  Blake learned to slide in the dirt or grass or rocks and it doesn't even hurt!  Ava learned that playing in dirt is a lot of fun!

Sara Has a Blog?!

I must start by saying that I am not the "computer" type.  I am what you would call "technically" challenged.  I am interested in maintaining this blog for three reasons.  The 1st and most important is to keep a record of all our family memories for my children.  Second, I am a stay home mom of a 2 1/2 yr old and a 1 yr old and frankly what else do I have to do but track their every move. Ha Ha!  Finally, I believe we all need more laughter and I hope this blog will make you laugh out loud with our ups and downs of life and we "Just Roll With It".
